The Mexican company, Teatro de Ciertos Habitantes, has become a landmark of Latin Americas avant-garde theatre. It is Mexico’s premiere contemporary ensemble theatre company whose works have been commissioned, co-produced, presented and received with enormous success and enthusiasm in the most important festivals and venues in Mexico and throughout the world. Under the artistic direction of Claudio Valdes Kuri, the ensemble company has consistently received international acclaim for its innovative and captivating performances, including:  Life is a Dream, El Gallo, Monsters and Prodigies: The History of the Castrati, The Grey Automobile, Becket or the Honour of God, Where Will I Be Tonight? and Skin. The company, artistic director, actors and technicians have received numerous awards, fellowships and honors for their work.

Teatro de Ciertos Habitantes’ projects and productions are created through long periods of development through a process of research, risk taking, investigation and questioning. Each work explores new language as a result of the constant search for innovation of form and content. We consider that the element of change is the prime instrument for the development of the artistic spirit. The creative process involves the artist working in an interdisciplinary way, actor/musician/dancer, utilizing their abilities to the maximum. In addition, the company works on educational, social and environmental projects, radio and television productions and musical recording.
